Sparkling Dress

I've just got some Sweet Poppy stencils and couldn't wait to try them out with various methods. For this one I used texture paste and then various glitters.

The die cut sentiment is from a Tonic set and the stamped sentiment is from a Paper Smooches set. I edged the card with a black sharpie and then for an extra sparkle I used a sparkle gel pen over the top of the black and also over the die cut.

I'm entering this card into these challenges:-

Allsorts -glitter
Countryview Crafts - use a stencil
CAS mix up challenge - Glitter, stamping + your choice

Paper Piecing @ The Male Room challenge

The challenge at the Male Room is to Paper Piece. I was struggling a bit as I usually paper piece dresses or flowers. However, I decided this mini car was suitable for the task.

I also added a little glossy accents for the windows and lights and some silver colouring for the chrome areas on the car. The sentiment is a Phill Martin one and I thought fitted nicely into the layout.

Thanks for looking and this card is being entered into The Male Room Challenge.

Flower power at Penny Black & More - mid month reminder

A little mid month reminder of our challenge over at Penny Black & More. Which this month the theme is flower power.

For my DT card I couldn't resist using my newest PB stamp again. The dynamic poppy.

I used a Strathmore watercolour card and added aquatints to make the background. I then stamped over the PB image and bleached out the colour. I then added the colour back in with different aquatints.

Finally I used two PB sentiments to finish off the card before mounting onto some faux wood grain plastic paper which I added pebeo gilding wax to.

Thanks for looking and don't forget we have as always fabulous prizes on offer on the blog. Just keep your focal point to an actual stamp - no digis allowed!

Let Your Dreams Set Sail - Swedish House Crafts Design Team

My turn to share a make using the fabulous products from Swedish House Crafts. You can click on the items I used in the text - this will take you straight to the item in the shop.

I used as the base of my card Maja Designs Denim and Friends paper collection - I thought the stars looked like they would be in the sky, also some of the papers torn and inked to look like waves.  I added some mica flakes in blue and silver to give the sea some dimension.

I just love these cute Gummiapan houses and with some paper behind the apertures I thought they looked a little like beach houses. I actually cut them from two sizes of the paper from Maja 6 x6 and the 12x12 wood paper. I inked the edges with Peacock Feather oxide ink to make them look a little weather worn.

I cut around the beautiful mermaid from the Pion design paper "Images of the past - Legends of the sea" 12x12 sheet and then embellished her with a wink of stella and glitters.

Thanks for looking.

CD Sunday - Take a Stamp

It just so happened that I was going to make my card for the CD Sunday challenge when I was asked to make a Get Well card.

I decided to use the Serif "Bloke" cdrom for my background and the font for the wording. I printed it out and the stamps I have added are the T Holtz ones of the man and the birds. I put a little grey shadow around one side of the main stamp with a promarker. I added a little oxide ink here and there and that's it!

I'm entering this into the CD Sunday challenge - Take a Stamp.

More Fireworks at LIM #353 and #354

The current Less is More challenge is running for another week so I decided to have another go as my first entry apparently doesn't have enough white space. The theme is fireworks but not necessarily to show fireworks, so I have gone with the colours of fireworks.

I stamped using a Lavinia stamp and then with some bubble wrap splodged Cosmic shimmer inks over the image. Finally I added a sentiment from Paper Smooches before cutting out with a stitched Gummiapan die from Swedish House Crafts.

Now I am probably going to disqualify myself again - but it just didn't look right without a black mat which I cut out with a Lawn Fawn stitched die.

Blue and Brown @ Allsorts challenge

I just love it when a challenge does exactly that - challenges you. This card would not have turned out the way it did if it weren't for the challenge at Allsorts of Blue and Brown.

I began by embossing a piece of card with a Sheena tree folder. I then rubbed DI vintage photo ink over the trees (I know they look black in the photo, but it was brown ink only!) I then took a sparkle pen and washed royal blue all over the card. I tried to capture the sparkle but you can't really see it  trust me it looks magical!

I knew I wanted to use these animal dies and stamps from Creative expressions and I did sneak a little white ink on the backs of the deers. So far so good, but then I wanted to add snow or silver but it wasn't allowed. So I used same TH card I had  used for the animals and cut the sentiment and frostyville border out - put it against my scene and I thought - wow! I would never have thought that would work so well.

I really love how this turned out and it will be perfect for my friend who takes photos in the local park of the deer.

LIM #353 and #354 Fireworks

Although it says at the Less is More Challenge there is no need to use fireworks - I have these Sheena Douglass stamps which were just perfect so I decided to make use of them.

I made the background using the "caught in crystal" technique. There are a few ways to do this technique and for mine I used acetate, tissue, spray startch and aqua tints with some fine glitter thrown in too.

Then I stamped onto the acetate with black stazon ink, cutting out with a TL tattered square die and using the die set as a guide to make the squiggly lines.

Flower Power at Penny Black & More challenge

Our theme this month on Penny Black & More is "Flower Power".

For my DT card I've used my latest purchase the new "dynamic" stamp. I just had to get this as it is a poppy. Hard to find in the UK, but luckily one of our Sponsors this month Crafts U Love did it on a special order for me. They are really friendly and helpful.

I stamped the poppy head several times and clear embossed, then I dragged fired brick distress oxide ink over the image. I did the same with two sets of leaves and cut them all out. Then I used the stamp for  the leaves on the background circle, and one poppy head in the centre. I coloured the leaves with a little diluted distress oxide.

I stamped my base card with the poppy head in the corners. Then I layered up my card. Adding some silver and white highlighting to the poppy heads. Finally I add a Phill Martin scribbled sentiment die.

Don't forget we have as usual fab prizes on offer. Our sponsors this month are Penny Black, Marianne Designs and Crafts U Love.

I'm Here Celebrating 1st year with SHC and giveaways

Welcome to my blog! If you are following the Swedish House Blog Hop (and why wouldn't you?) - you should have come here from my teamie Liz and her blog Liz's Creative Corner.

As part of the blog hop I am sharing my craft desk with you - and no I didn't tidy up first!

Look away now if you are a neat freak! I like to have everything to hand - and sometimes it gets out of hand. You don't need to come and tidy for me - I like it like this!!!

Maybe you can spy what I have been working on for Swedish House Crafts and what is to come. Yes, that's my water pot - I get too lazy to change the water LOL!

To the side of my desk I have my cutting machine and plates and a box I just finished making at a workshop. In the decorated storage I have all my large and regular use dies like circles and squares and underneath draws with my embossing powders, stickles and so on. I don't have to leave my chair to use them!

So, to the blog hop!

First of all you can win on my blog!  Suha very generously gave all the DT an item to give away. For my readers it is the little houses you can see in the picture on my desk. All you need to do is leave a comment here on my blog post to win it.

Gummiapan Dies - Houses

Anything goes @ Craft Stamper Challenge

This is my entry for the Craft Stamper challenge .

I created a background using brushos and then used Visible image stamps with oxide inks to overstamp. The sentiment I added in black versamark ink. I then used a little black soot oxide ink to edge the card.

I used the misti to reverse stamp the image top and bottom of the base card with Archival Watering Can ink.

Silhouettes @ The Male Room challenge

I bought this Sheena Douglass die and embossing folder and this is the first chance I have had to use them. I only got the die not the stamp so I always intended to use it like this and I thought it was perfect for the Silhouette challenge at The Male Room.

I put black soot oxide ink on the embossing folder before running it through the machine and used the debossed side. The sentiment is by Gummiapan from Swedish House Crafts and I cut it out with a Gummiapan stitched die, but only left the stitching at the sides.

LIM #352 Stamp layering

The current challenge at Less is More is to layer up your stamps. I had this Altenew stamp set free with a mag and thought I would try it out. I've used Oxide distress inks and the final layer I stamped in versafine.

I then cut out using a Gummiapan stitched rectangle die from Swedish House Crafts.

It looked a little too CAS, so I added a Woodware sentiment (which in itself is a layered stamp!) in Watering can archival ink.

When Autumn Leaves Start to Fall @ CD Sunday

I made a card for the last CD Sunday challenge here on which I featured leaves. So I think I peaked too soon with the leaves! I had a look through my cdroms and decided on this image from A Touch of Elegance cdrom as it has some leaves falling.

I then got out some snippets that I had saved from a workshop at this time of year - last year! I had saved these die cut leaves as I don't have this die and the coordinating snippets of paper. The base card is some embossed Hunkydory card from my stash - but again a snippet.

Finally I used the Phill Martin Scribbled dies to add the sentiment. I thought "Birthday Greetings" went well with the image as it is a little more olde worlde way of saying Happy Birthday.

I'm entering this card into the CD Sunday challenge "When Autumn Leaves Start to Fall" and also the Snippet Playground. I have no more of these snippets left now - I decided I'd kept them long enough and they were really down to scraps!

Anything goes @ Simon Says Stamp

I just love these stamps from Visible Image but this is the first time they've seen ink. I've actually combined two sets here. I'm on a mission to get out unused stash - again!

I began by creating a background using a sun ray stencil which then led me to think of it being behind the door. I bleached out the colour and recoloured the door. I've coloured the "buttons" with a the glitter dual pens. Finally I added a little black border with a sharpie.

I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where it's "Anything goes".

Autumn Glory

It' s ages since I've had the glitter flakes out and the colours always remind of Autumn. I decided to use a piece of acetate which I had stamped onto first and then blanking a little part for the moon I covered with the flakes, then removed the mask and applied silver just to that part.

I used Penny Black leaf stamps to create a background with Distress oxides. I have a ton of autumn acetate and so decide a little piece would fit nicely under the black matting and over a piece of the gold card.

I'm trying to get out my old dies and use them. So this is a label die with a Paula Pascale sentiment. I used the stamps to lightly put the same inks over the little piece of card to tone with the background.

I'm entering this card into the Autumn glory challenge at Stamping Sensations.

October Rudolph Day

It's that time again! Rudolph Day over on Mo's blog.

For my card this month I used a cdrom from Ooh La La Creations. I used software to place the image over the backing paper and then printed out. I've used some rose gold card to cut out a couple of dies and the sentiment is from indigo blu.

LIM #351 Monsters

The challenge for "monsters" over at Less is More this week prompted me to get this fab stamp out from Swedish House Crafts. It's called Lucia Christmas Carol (Luciatåget) and it's made by Gummiapan. They are celebrating Santa Lucia which is a traditional Swedish celebration on the 13th of December each year.

I only used part of the stamp on this first card. You can see the full version below. I created a background using sparkle pens and stamped the image once onto the background and then again on a piece of card which I cut around and mounted over the top. Ive coloured the images with promarkers and dual glitter pens. I also used the dual pens for the squiggle lines around the image, this means when the light catches it one way it shows purple and the other blue.

Below is the first version of the card I made but I thought it was maybe not LIM enough. I used the Gummiapan sentiment die which has a fab modern script.

I'm also entering the first card into the Craft stamper blog challenge for anything goes.

Include an animal at Ooh la la Creative challenge blog

Jennifer has chosen our theme over at Ooh la la Creations Challenge blog this time. She would like to see you "include an animal" on your creation.

For my DT card I've used the Say It With Words cdrom.

I used one of the pre-designed cards from the cdrom - this is literally click and print! Hope to see you over at the challenge blog with your designs.

For the love of dogs - CD Sunday challenge

Two posts in one day! I thought I had another week to enter the challenge at CD Sunday but realise this is the second week! Time is just flying by. I may not remember to post before the deadline tomorrow so I decided to do it today.

I've used Bertie from The Paula Oakley collection cdrom by Ooh la la creations for my card. To make him a little autumnal I die cut some leaves and a fir cone. Reminds me of walking in all the fallen leaves.

As all those little leaves are cut from snippets I am also popping over to the Snippet Playground with this card.

Make Waves with Pion Design Mermaid for Swedish House Crafts

Today it is my turn to guest on the Swedish House Crafts Blog.

I just love these Pion Design papers - Legends of the Sea. I've only used a few of the images there are lots left - biggest problem is deciding which ones to use! To complement the images I used papers from Maja Design -Denim and Friends and Life in the Country.

I added some flower ribbon from my stash which was the perfect contrasting colour. To hide the tape holding the ribbon on I dusted it with some glitter. The little sequins are Flat Milk White ones from the shop. Don't let the name fool you, because when they catch the light they have other lovely colours showing too.

I distressed the edges of the papers and used Distress ink to colour them. The flowers are Antique White paper from the shop.

I really enjoyed making this card which is a little different from my usual style. It must be the Swedish House influence!

LIM week #350 OLC Stars

The challenge on Less is More this week is for a one layer card and stars. I decided to use this Woodware stamp and then my own handwriting!

I'm learning brush lettering - although you wouldn't know from this! After writing with a black pen I then traced around with one of the Pentel dual colour glitter pens - also using it to add some detail to the stamp.

mid month reminder for Penny Black & more challenge

Here today to remind you of our ongoing challenge for October at Penny Black & More with the theme of Close to Nature.

For my DT card I chose this little chap who looks like he is very close to nature! It's Penny Black 1719K Nap Time. I stamped the image and created a background using aqua pens and glycerine. Then I bleached out the colour from the image with a brush and water before recolouring . I then used some more water splashed over the card and faux bleached to leave the spodges.

I used a stitched die to cut out the image and then stamped my sentiment which is from Swedish House Crafts. Finally I mounted onto some purple card which I distressed the edges of. Then I mounted onto some Penny Black DP and a little crochet lace from my stash.

Inky workshop

Thought my workshop today (saturday 14 Oct) with the very talented Amanda Branston deserved a post all of its own.

This is my first card using Lavina fairy and some Clarity trees.

The for the second card - using a mountain mask forwards and reversed.

A fab monotone technique with oxides.

Probably my favourite, Northern Lights. I will definitely be trying this technique again.

Lastly oxides on black card.

Biggest surprise of the day was that Kathy Mills aka one of the Glitter Girls was on the workshop! The loveliest lady too. Just had to ask for a snap with her.

Think Pink at Allsorts and Swedish House Crafts

Today Swedish House Crafts is so very pleased to be sponsoring the Allsorts challenge blog. Becky and I have each made a card for the challenge blog. The theme is "Think Pink" if you want to join in over at the Allsorts blog.

For my card I chose to use these items from the Swedish House Crafts shop:-

Gummiapan Dies - Integrated Hearts

Gummiapan Stamp - Daisy face

Gummiapan Stamp - Texts 16 Words

Gummiapan Stamp - Butterfly Morpho - Small

I cut out using the integrated hearts from pink card but I added Distress ink to make a hot pink colour. I stamped inside the hearts using words from the Text stamp.

I stamped the daisy in pink distress ink onto pink card. Then using a sparkle pen I dragged the colour.

I love this heart frame and it goes so well with all the other elements. I stamped inside it using just the "be you" from the sentiment stamp along with two tiny butterflies. I used the sparkle pen while the ink was wet to drag over the sentiment to "grunge" it a little.

Finally I used the "waste" from the heart die to add the little hearts.
